About
Windy Hills Farm, located in beautiful Riner, Virginia, has been in our family for three generations. This gorgeous 450-acre working farm is home to the most beautiful pumpkin, corn, wheat, barley, hay, and turnip fields this side of Virginia. Part of the farm is dedicated toward a conservation easement program to support wildlife and water quality.
Built in 1923, the old dairy barn is one of the many original historic buildings located on the farm. The dairy barn follows standard milk barn plans originally designed by Virginia Tech. It was primarily used as a canning factory for tomatoes in the 1930s and 1940s and was part of the Riner Cooperative Cannery Company located on Will Altizer's farm. The beautiful home situated on the property is a simple brick farmhouse built in 1935 and, to this day, maintains many historic touches including original woodwork.
